The Six Circles of Management Model

Management is a process of decision-making that ensures that the purposes of a business unit are met to a required standard. The manager is responsible for this process. The six domains in which the manager and their team must make decisions are described in the Six Circles of Management model.

Use this model to identify which are your strengths, and which are areas where you could make performance improvements.

The six circles are:

  1. Alignment of the business unit's purpose with the strategy, taking account of internal and external conditions;
  2. Development and implementation of policies and procedures;
  3. Financial and resource management to enable the purpose to be met;
  4. Staff engagement;
  5. Monitoring, evaluation and reporting of business performance; and
  6. Client engagement.
